Palmyra

A few weekends ago, my ward (church group) took a trip to Palmyra, NY where the LDS church started. It was an amazing weekend. A nice little break from the busy-ness of life over here. Palmyra is a small little town surrounded by trees. It was in the 70's the whole weekend and just perfect.

We had to meet at the church at six in the morning. (AH!) I am not a morning person at all. When we got to the church my friend Emily goes, "No one talk to Corinne for the next 4 hours or she will bite your head off." Nobody believed her until they started talking to me. haha. It's a 6 hour bus ride which wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be.

Once we got there we went to the Printing Press where the first 5,000 copies of the Book of Mormon were printed and bound. It was super neat to see and can I just say I am grateful for modern technology cause it took them 7 months just to print it then another 8 to bound them. 15 months! Crazy. After that we had time to walk around the town a little bit. I got some super delicious ice cream! Then we headed back to the bus.

We drove over to the Sacred Grove and Joseph Smith home. It was so peaceful and nice to be over there. We just wandered around and did what we want. One of my old friends from growing up is serving her mission there and I had the opportunity to see her! It was so awesome to see her! And weird at the same time cause who knew we would both end up in NY!

After that we went to the Hill Cumorah where the pageant (a play) was at. It was way cool! So many types of theatrics and water and fire! haha I loved it! There are 800 people in the pageant! I think that is crazy! After we went back to the hotel and slept.

Sunday we just had a small church meeting then hopped on the bus for the trip home. It was an amazing spiritual trip. I loved it so much and was not ready to come back to real life. It was just what I needed lately and I am so glad I had the chance to go!

We got told we'd make cute sister missionaries haha

Sister Jessica West!

The view from the top of the hill. All the green squares are chairs.

Group shot! Such a fun trip!
