New York!

I have been here two weeks tomorrow. That is crazy to me because it seems like so much longer but in a good way! Most of you reading this probably already know my situation but I will tell it anyways. In November of last year I was asked to be a nanny for this family in New York. After some thinking and lots of prayers I decided to take the job! My thoughts were "hey I am not really doing anything and I don't really know what to do with my life so let's go on an adventure!" So I quit my job, sold my car, and said by to my family in January of this year.

I fit my life in two suitcases weighing under 50 pounds. Can I tell you that was very hard and I actually called my Dad on Monday to have him mail me some stuff I missed... But on January 4th I hopped on a plane and flew all the way across the country to New York City. As I was landing I got to see the whole New York skyline from my window and it was dark out so it was all lit up. At one point I saw the Statue of Liberty and it finally hit me that holy crap I am not in Idaho anymore! I met the Mom of the family at the airport and off we went. I was in awe of it all. (and I still am!)

My first weekend was relaxing. I just followed the family around and tried to figure out how the heck to get around here. We went ice skating and had some New York pizza! It was a good weekend. I also went to church. I was actually really nervous about church because I was like if it is super lame I don't know really how I am going to make friends! But it is the exact opposite. I love my ward out here! It's amazing and everyone is so nice and friendly! It's just what I need.

So last week the Mom didn't have work so I just kinda stuck with her so I would learn my way around and what to do. It was really nice actually. I conquered driving! It's not too bad the roads are just so narrow and not what I am used to at all. Plus I drive a van so that is taking some getting used to as well!

On Friday of last week a couple of the people in my ward were meeting in NYC for a night in the city. So I rode the train in, it takes about 45 minutes. I love it that I am so close to this amazing city! I rode the train all by myself and some girl actually asked me for help! WHAT! I guess it looked like I knew what I was doing. So the train takes you straight to Grand Central Station. So we all met there. Well some people were running late so this kid Ryan and I (he's also from Idaho) decided to do the Wicked Lottery. You write down your name and they draw about 12ish names out of a bowl at 6 p.m. and if you win you get front row seats to see Wicked the musical! We waited for about 20 minutes for them to call the names and Ryan's name was called! My first weekend in NYC and I got to see Wicked front row! AMAZING! Oh my gosh it was more than I ever dreamed it would be. I want to see it again and again and again!

This has been my first full week without the Mom around. Monday was easy and went by pretty fast but yesterday was super long and tiring. I think that happens with every person though no matter what you are doing in life. I am loving it here though and it is way better then I ever thought it would be. I was super nervous to leave my family, friends, and my comfort zone of Idaho but I am so glad I did. I know I will have rough days and not always be so happy to be here but that's life. I do miss everyone back home though I just wish they could all come live here with me!

So follow along on my journey as I figure out what to do with my life in the wonderful state of New York. Oh and p.s. Beyonce lives in the town next to me!

Dad this is for you!
