I live in a very ritzy part of the East Coast. You only see people driving BMW, Audi's, Lexus's, and Fiat's. Status is very important over here. And people take weekend trips all the time, but they don't say they are going on a vacation or a trip, they say they are going away for the weekend. It makes me laugh. But this past weekend that's exactly what I did. Does that make me a true New Yorker?
A couple weeks ago my friend Emily was like do you want to go on a trip? And I was like sure! Thinking it's one of those things that you only talk about and it doesn't really happen. But she had a plane ticket she had to use before the end of March. So we talked about places we could go Boston, North Carolina, Atlanta, ect. But all of those places weren't warm enough yet. Emily was like Florida? So I looked up how much it would be for me to fly down there. It wasn't that much. So we asked our bosses and they both said we could go! So we slowly planned this trip...
It all came together until Friday when a stupid Winter Blizzard decided to come out of nowhere and delay every freaking flight out of Laguardia! It was a long stressful day on Friday because I had a layover in Nashville and because of my delay in NY I was going to miss my connecting flight. But all worked out and I finally make it to Orlando! 3 hours later then I was supposed too.. But still I made it!
The Orlando airport was very empty at 1:30 in the morning..
Saturday we woke up and walked to Universal! Our hotel was only .5 miles away so it didn't take long at all! Universal was awesome! I had never been before! We did both parks in 1 day cause we did the Express Pass. Which is kinda like a fast pass at Disney but not. haha. You pay a little more for your ticket and then you just go in a different line and we walked on every ride basically. Or waited like 5 minutes. It was awesome and totally worth paying the extra money for. Especially cause we were doing both parks in one day!
This is a giant alligator in the parade. The picture isn't that cool but it was a sweet float!
Since we bought the tickets that let us do both parks we were able to go to a free concert. The band performing that night were Montgomery Gentry (They are a country band) It was awesome! They were amazing live! It's a good thing both Emily and I love country music!
Sunday we slept in a little cause we were soooo tired. We got up, went to Sonic :) (there aren't any in NY, the closest one is in New Jersey like an hour away...) Then we made our way to the beach! It was so pretty. But so cold! It was like 75 degrees and SUPER windy! It felt like 60 degrees. So we didn't stay all day which was our normal plan. We decided to go to downtown Disney. It was fun!
The Ghiradelli shop :) Smelled like heaven in there!
We flew home Monday morning and went right back to work. Yesterday was a super long day and I went to bed super early. haha. But this "weekend away" was so worth it! And now I am back to work and sad, rainy weather...
