Thanksgiving 2013

For Thanksgiving I stayed in New York this year (because who wants to pay holiday plane ticket prices twice?!) and even though I missed my family so much I had the greatest Thanksgiving.

Wednesday night I stayed the night at my friend Sarah's house because we were waking up at the crack of dawn to get to the city for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade! We woke up at 5 and took a 6:30 train into the city. We grabbed a bagel and then headed towards Columbus Circle. We had about an hour and a half until the parade started plus we were about at the half way point so really we had over two hours to wait. We just took pictures, danced, and tried to stay warm. We even made a music video that was hilarious. Finally the parade started and we didn't have the best spots but we could still see the balloons (I mean how could you miss those.) (sidenote: they almost weren't going to be able to blow up the balloons because it was SO windy. that would have sucked.) We only stayed for about an hour because my feet were so cold they were going to fall off. But we did see some awesome floats and Jimmy Fallon so it was all worth it!

(these were the only pictures I got of the floats because my hands were so cold I couldn't keep my hands out of my gloves for to long!)

After the parade we got some soup in Grand Central and then headed home to take naps before our Thanksgiving feasts began. I was EXHAUSTED. I passed out as soon as my head hit the pillow. After our naps we headed to my friend Chase's house for dinner. His Mom went ALL out for us. She seriously is the greatest. We ate so much food and then just relaxed the rest of the night (that's what thanksgiving is for, right?)

We took some awkward family photos. Because that's what we do best.

I have so many things to be grateful for in my life. To just name a few:
The opportunity I have to live in NY.
My own family back home who I miss all the time.
The friends I have all over the country.
The amazing family I work for here in NY.
The gospel. I don't know where I would be without the church.
My amazing parents who let me take the biggest risk of my life and move across the country.
The best older sister who lets me rant about stupid stuff on a daily basis to her.
I am just so grateful for so many things that the list could go on for days.
